Experience

My life journey has been all about partnering with people to solve problems. The setting and the audience has changed many times, but the work has remained the same. I’ve spent much of my adult life in the world of education—15 years in the traditional school setting, and another 16 years working with children and teens who for reasons related to emotional problems, physical problems, or learning style were unable to fully benefit from school. As I moved among friends and acquaintances in my world, I became aware that the problems that loom so big in the school setting don’t go away when these young adults leave school. They change their costume and turn into problems in managing life— time, relationships, ideas and dreams—managing things that are necessary to keep daily life from becoming overwhelming and disappointing.

I understand struggles. I’ve had them, too. One of the most energizing things I regularly do is to partner with those who are distractible, or learn differently, to help them make their lives more productive and fulfilling. Some have been diagnosed with ADD or a learning disability, others have just suspected that they are different from the mainstream and are learning what that means. Almost all have been unable to reach their full potential because they don’t fully access their great strengths. Almost all feel shame, lack of confidence, and in some way incompetent to realize their goals. That’s where I can help.
